How to Clean Your Chair

Outdoor adventures get messy. Luckily, Happy Chaps are VERY easy to clean.

Between sunscreen, sand, snacks and spilt drinks, your chair's going to see a bit of life. The good news is, it's built for it!

With a few simple tips, you’ll keep your Happy Chap chair looking great and going strong for years.

Quick Clean

Perfect for post-beach, after a camping trip and general maintenance.

  • Empty out the stash pocket
  • Shake off sand, grass and crumbs (this is easy cause there’s no corners!)
  • Hose down the frame and fabric
  • Let the chair air-dry completely before folding it away (it’s quick-dry so this shouldn’t take long)
  • If water has collected in the seat, tip your chair forwards so it rests on the padded leg area
  • Don’t forget to to check that the fabric under the headrest is dry before you fold and pack it away

Deep Clean

For spills, sunscreen, mud or mystery marks

  • Mix warm water with a few drops of dish soap
  • Use a soft cloth or brush to gently scrub the fabric
  • Hose or rinse with clean water
  • Air-dry completely before folding and packing it away

What not to do

Happy Chap chairs are tough, but not indestructible. Avoid doing these things:

Don't attempt to remove the fabric from the frame.

Don't use bleach or harsh cleaners.

Don't fold and store whilst damp.

Don't use high-pressure hose on fabric.

Wear & Tear

Your chair is designed to be used. It WILL get scratches and scuff marks - this is a sign that you're doing life right!

When you unpack your chair, you may notice some etched scratches on the aluminium frame, particularly near the headrest (it kind of looks like a bird!).

You may also notice some indents on the foam armrests.

These are part of the chair design, and will not interfere with the comfort or functionality of your chair.

How to store your Happy Chap

Proper storage = longevity. If you store your Happy Chap chairs and cup holders properly, you’ll get more life out of them.

Here's how to do it:

  • Fold flat and store in a dry, shaded spot
  • Make sure everything's dry before packing away
  • Use the stash pocket for light items only (think: sunnies and snacks, not bricks)
