READ THIS BEFORE DEEMING A PRODUCT FAULTY
Your chair is designed to be used. The (VERY) careful and intentional modelling of the frame means you may notice some indents or scratches. This is part of the design, and will not interfere with the comfort or functionality of your chair.
Please read our maintenance page to understand if your issue is a fault or actually intentional design.
It is! The Happy Chap Chair has been tested to EN581-2 Camping Level. It meets proper standards for static load, durability and impact resistance. You can read more about our testing process here.
Because EN581-2 is internationally recognised, tough to pass and relevant to how people actually use outdoor chairs.
It’s used by leading manufacturers around the world as a benchmark for safety and durability – especially for products made to handle sun, salt and regular folding and unfolding.
We chose it because it’s comprehensive, credible and sets the bar high. And we didn’t just want our chair to feel strong – we wanted proof it was.
It’s built to last, plain and simple. The aluminium frame is lightweight but tough, the fabric is UV-resistant and fade-resistant, and the whole chair is designed to hold up to harsh Aussie conditions.
Nope. We’ve used UV-resistant fabric and rust-resistant materials so you can leave it in the sun or near the sea without it falling apart. (But please treat it well, rinse it off every now and then and pack it up when you’re not using it – that way, it might last you several decades).
The best way we’ve found to clean marks or stains is to lightly rub it with dish soap, warm water and a soft brush. Sunscreen, mud, sauce should all come off pretty easily.
If there are no marks but you just want to give it a general clean because it’s been at the beach or in the mud, just hose it down.

Just under 3kg – ridiculously light for something this solid. You’ll barely notice it slung over your shoulder, but it’s strong enough to hold up to serious use.
Most outdoor chairs are built for price, not people. We designed Happy Chap to be genuinely comfortable, durable and easy to use. No pressure points, no digging-in bars and no slouchy posture that wrecks your back.
Yes. Like, really yes. With a sling-style seat that supports your whole body, padded armrests and a built-in headrest, this chair is the comfiest you’ll find.
Absolutely. We designed this chair for real bodies, so it's especially good for those who are tall, heavy, sore, stiff, post-surgery or just picky about comfort. It’s very supportive and adaptive to many different body shapes.
The suggested weight limit is 125 kg.
It’s got a reinforced aluminium frame (light but strong) and UV-resistant fabric that holds up to sun, salt and whatever else life throws at it.
Yes – it’s ready to go straight out of the box. Just unfold and claim your spot.
Very easy. It folds flat and slings over your shoulder, so you’ve always got both hands free for your towel, bag or esky.
If you'd like an explainer, you can watch this how-to video on YouTube.
Yep. We’ve tested it well beyond the 135kg limit – it’s solid, supportive and built for big energy.
Tempting as it is, this chair’s not made for children. It’s designed for adult-sized bodies and, like any chair, it can tip if climbed on. Kids can tough it out on the ground like we had to!
In saying all that … if kids DO sit on it, make sure they keep their feet on the ground and just like adults … they won't want to sit anywhere else.
This chair is for chills, not thrills. Don’t climb, bounce or rock back like you’re testing gravity. Sit properly, keep it on the ground and always unfold it fully before use.
If it’s a windy day, pack it up when you’re not sitting in it or peg it down with tent pegs so it doesn’t blow away.
Enjoy it safely and keep the comfy vibes alive ✌️
Yes. Each chair has 2 spots for a cup holder: 1 on the left and 1 on the right, so you can choose your setup (or double up, if you have more than 1 emotional support drink). SHOP CUP HOLDERS
You sure can. Cup holders are sold separately and available in all colours – mix, match or get one for each side.
All cup holders are detachable. They fold flat and slide neatly into the stash pocket behind your chair’s headrest. That way it’s always where you need it. SHOP CUP HOLDERS
